Preparation
General advice before injectables
- Alcohol in the 24 hours beforehand increases bruising.
- Blood-thinning supplements such as fish oil, high-dose vitamin E and ginkgo also increase bruising. Never stop prescribed medication without speaking to the doctor who prescribed it.
- Bring a list of your medications and supplements — aminoglycoside antibiotics matter particularly with neurotoxin.
- Mention a history of cold sores before any lip treatment; treatment can trigger an outbreak.
- Injectables are not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
- Swelling and bruising are possible, so avoid booking close to a wedding, holiday or important photographs.
Ask Anywhere
Questions worth asking any provider
- Who is injecting me, and what is their licence?
- What product is being used, and is it FDA-approved for this?
- How many units or syringes, and what is the total cost?
- What are the risks specific to this area?
- What should I do, and who should I contact, if something worries me afterwards?
These are reasonable questions anywhere, including here.
